Mindful interior design since 2011.

General Habitat designs spaces rooted in your past and looking toward your future for what you need today. Remodels, renovations, or new construction - we create meaningful homes for joy and wellness.

From childhood bedrooms to first apartments, woodland forts to converted closet home offices - the spaces that shape us can inform what we need to be our best selves. That’s why, at General Habitat, we ask questions to understand how you really use and want to live in your space, but also a lot of, “Why?” The answers may surprise you and, most importantly, will shape your design and budget. We understands the stress and excitement of altering your living spaces, and offer Home Therapy and other design services to relieve you and encourage your next steps, from shifting thoughts to shifting walls.

Principal & founder, Jamie Adjemian (that's uh-JEM-ee-uhn), brings more than 15 years of industry experience to her firm - from luxury trade brands and custom millwork to adaptive architecture and sustainable technologies. She holds a BS in Interior Design from Drexel University and an MS in Sustainable Design from Jefferson University. Her unique method to interiors merges design psychology with building science for solutions that are pragmatic and mindful. After serving clients in the Philadelphia region, she moved with husband and three children to New Hampshire’s seacoast in 2019, where they are attempting to renovate @thisoldbroadhouse, their 17th century farmhouse.
